I’m going to make this brief. I had lots of things to do this morning but instead chose to spend an hour discussing the merits (or otherwise) of modern football boots with a fella in our office who used to work in that field. No pun intended.
Endorsement is great, but things have moved on from Gazza and his Brooks and Lineker wearing Quasar. I was an impressionable youth, bought and wore both. They weren’t all that. These days, your average young midfield general demands his boots actually work. The mere mention of a mint player isn’t enough. These tick more boxes than a an overly officious Weight Watchers rep. They look nice, they work and arguably the best midfielder in the world wears them. A vague description maybe, but Pogba, Oscar, Rakitic and Ozil are all sporting these right now. Take your pick.
If you’re turned on by the tech-spec, then the headline here is how they’re laceless, which gives a more even contact with the ball. It’s all a bit space age for an ageing football veteran like myself, but the younger, more dynamic version of me would have been all over these.
