We all love footwear, it’s one of the main reasons you’re reading this site now. But imagine that you loved a brand so much that over time you moved through the ranks from ‘CONSUMER’ to ‘ENTHUSIAST’ right up to full blown (*does Sid James Cackle*) ‘COLLECTOR’.
Not only that, but (keep imagining) the brand you fell for recognised your importance and gave you the opportunity to show off your wares and knowledge both in print and in designing your own shoe. That’s just what adidas Originals have done with (in)famous German collector Quote.
Alongside his (and our) ‘Great Mate’ Peter O’Toole (another long time adi-head) the Anglo-German axis has bonded to produce both a beautiful book, and an equally stunning pair of ZX Runners, christened the ‘QuoToole‘.
Featuring a selection of adidas trainers taken from Quote’s Archive, Pete has illustrated each pair, whilst his footwear brethren has written a bit about them leading to an informative and heartwarming book. To round off the good work, another “Proper Person” Adam Gill (and Grammar Studio) have done all the graphic design and produced a rather ace little tome for your bookshelf / glass coffee-table.
It’s with the trainers, however, that the lads’ dreams become reality. Using the little heralded ZX420 silhouette and inspired by an old Denver model the collab project (in the real sense of the word) has produced a true, future adidas classic. Suede, mesh, nylon. Light blue, claret and red. Sounds bloody good, even before you set eyes on it, doesn’t it.
Available from November 15th at adidas Consortium dealers worldwide; both the ‘Quote’s Archive‘ book and ‘QuoToole Zx420‘, are sure to be be highly in demand.
