Having previously covered the German heartland, their Herzogenaurach HQ and the South of France, for this season’s eagerly anticipated collection adidas Spezial have brought the worlds of casual culture and roots and culture together. Two distinct sub-cultures that both share a love of great music, football matches and using a unique attitude and style to stand out from the crowd. The accompanying promo film features rising reggae star Chronixx kitted out in the collection and talking words of wisdom alongside a dubbed up tunes from from his forthcoming album.
Though we’re (predictably) all going a bit mental over the reinterpretation of the adidas Brisbane leisure shoe in the form of the Garwen Spezial, the entire collection is testament to Gary Aspden’s keen eye for detail and what works . It also documents his ‘sound system’ for avoiding all the easy and obvious references and bringing only the most exciting elements of past and future together to create a range of genuinely exciting and highly desirable modern products.
