Andrew Clarke : Bright Beginnings

After a brief hiatus, we’re back in the game. Not on it, just in it.

It’s a new year and a Bright Beginning for some – look what I did there,  it’s none other than the title of this month’s mix from a Mr Andrew Clarke. Who’s he then? Well, he claims to be more of a record buyer than collector/digger and has been putting records together on/off since early 90’s.

Inspired by early Boys Own/Weatherall releases/remixes which lead him in to producing only in 2010 – which paid dividends as in 2013 he had first vinyl releases with Above Machine (Almunia)/Buddhist Army (Arthurs Landing) and Whiskey Disco.

I’ve had the pleasure of listening to the mix over the last week and I must say it’s a real grower, or a keeper you might say; beautifully blended from start to finish – that’s my thought’s on it, here’s his:

“Wanted to put a selection of tracks together a bit like an Originals comp, whereas you’re not sure whats coming next. Whether it be Italo disco, 80’s obscure pop, reggae or whatever!!”

Here’s his favourite five, and of course the mix – dive in.

Jex Opolis – Sharing (Good Timin’)
Fabrizio Fattori – Appunti D’Africa (London Records Productions)
International Music System – Mojave (IMS)
Laguna – Laguna (Mondo)
Marbeya Sound – Grow Back To Be Eaten Again (Fourplanes Records)
