Pre-empting instagram by at least fifty years master of modernism Andy Warhol choose to keep track of all the cool stuff he did by using a polaroid camera. He snapped everyone from Factory faces to Hollywood royalty and everyone else in between. This weighty tome from Taschen contains polaroid portraits (many previously unseen) of Mick Jagger, Alfred Hitchcock, Jack Nicholson, Audrey Hepburn, Yves Saint Laurent, Nico, Pelé and Debbie Harry. There’s also some stunning scenery and still life shots that highlight his pop art influences. So whilst we sit around waiting for someone to invent a time machine we can at least marvel at the incredibly glamorous photos in this book and imagine we’re hanging out at the Exploding Plastic Inevitable, Studio 54 or the Chelsea Hotel.
