Barbour, AW11 collaboration with Grenson

Its not every day that two of your favourite labels get together is it? Step forward master coat-smiths and outdoor experts Barbour and world renowned, luxury shoe-masters Grenson. As Barbour are making further forays into the world of quality footwear they’ve wisely enlisted the expertise of Northampton footwear company Grenson for their next step, a company that’s been around since 1866 which even eclipses Barbour’s impressive starting credentials of 1894. But we’re not here to play heritage top-trumps, we’re here to look at some really beautiful, grown-up, smart yet incredibly functional shoes.

So feast your eyes on the collaboration itself which features four exclusive styles of country boots and brogues, all handcrafted in Grenson’s factory. For us it’s all about the detailing as in each model you can clearly see the Barbour influence combining with classic Grenson silhouttes. Commando soles, hand stained green welt and linings, D rings, waxed rustic fabrics and antique brass eyelets all reflect the signature style and quality that we’ve come to expect from their brilliant jackets and clothing over the years. The shoes will be shortly available from leading independents including Aspecto, Oi Polloi and The End and also the Barbour stores in Carnaby Street, Long Acre, Covent Garden and Spitalfields.

I’m a fan of both brands but I’m underwhelmed with those efforts.
