Though the roots of this illustrious bag brand started way back in the 1950s when they were known as ‘Eastern Canvas Products, Inc.’ who supplied duffels and packs to the US Army it was during the year 1976 that Eastpak was officially born. It was Mark Goldman, the founder’s son who joined the company this year and realised that just like soldiers they’d been making bags for, college kids also need something to haul their kit around the campus in. This book-carrying brainwave led to the creation of the Eastpak name and the Padded Pak’r® backpack which proved an instant hit that’s gone on to be a much loved and worn backpack around the globe to this day.
In celebration of this classic Padded Pak’r® backpack and the brand’s 40th anniversary Eastpak have created a very special, All American ‘Spirit of ‘76’ version of the Padded Pak’r®.
