Growing up is cool. It’s taken me a while to realise this, but there’s an assuredness that comes with age. I know nothing about wine so I can’t reference anything to do with how that ages well. But I do know about coats and jumpers and stuff.
Folk has been around since 2001, and 14 years is a lifetime in menswear. Their idiosyncratic use of colour and detail always attracted the younger me to their output, but these days it’s more muted, confident and at ease with itself. Yes, just like me. *winks*
If Folk were a man in a pub, he’ll have spent most of the naughties peacocking and pulling, but these days a more austere figure cuts a dash at the end of the bar, reading a book you’ve always wanted to read, drinking something reassuringly expensive. And that’s why I like it.
