Here’s a recipe for a great book: Take 40 of Europe’s greatest chefs, add around 60 Michelin stars, 80 of their favourite recipes and a sneaky peak into each of their fridges (serve chilled). Featuring shelfies from the likes of Joan Roca, Massimo Bottura, Fergus Henderson, Yotam Ottolenghi, Marco Pierre White, Hélène Darroze, Inaki Aizpitarte, Mauro Colagreco, Thierry Marx, and Christian F. Puglis it’s a thoroughly charming and unpretentious read, where freshly picked truffles and super expensive olive oil rub shoulders with petit-filous and HP sauce. As someone who owns a lot of cookery books I find that the best ones (including this one) will give you a genuine insight into the chef’s life rather than just fobbing you off with a list of ingredients and a some directions. This is an essential buy for those of you at the the other end of the cookery spectrum to Delia who look upon a well stocked Smeg as a genuine work of art.
