Glaswegian masters of minimalism INSTRMNT second project has arrived on two wheels in the form of a collab with Islington pedal powerhouse Freddie Grubb. The resulting meeting of minds has given birth to a 2-speed city bike functional and fantastic to look at in equal measures. To combat the daily abuse of chaining your bike up INSTRMNT designed a leather top tube protector (made by leather specialist Longside) that also acts as a chip guard, carry grip and shoulder pad. Whilst Freddie Grubb specified a number of advanced technical components to aid with city riding, including an internal Automatix 2-speed gear and an SRAM back-pedal coaster brake. The bikes are all assembled in Freddie’s South London workshop and also include a pair of hand-stitched handlebar grips, polished steel componentry and a semi-gloss Hayward Grey frame.
The collaboration officially launches on the 24th September at London Design Festival.
