Earlier this year, we spent some quality time over in Bologna, trawling open-mouthed through some of the greatest jackets ever made at the mesmerising Massimo Osti archive. Whilst there we also had in depth chat with Lorenzo Osti where he spoke of his admiration for other brands who were continuing to push the direction of menswear by using new and innovative designs and materials.
One of the handful of brands he mentioned included Plurimus which was set up by Fabio Cavina in 2015 as something to an antidote to the standardised structure of fashion ‘business’. Also based in Bologna and using a network of esteemed fabric suppliers gained via previous projects and all located within a 120km radius Fabio eschews both trade shows and seasonal collections in favour of releasing ‘sets’ direct to the consumer and available via pre-order. By doing this and avoiding trade-shows and end of season sales Fabio has a much healthier creative environment in which to work in as well as having more time to spend developing those all important fabrics with local suppliers. Or as Fabio himself puts it “I was born and raised here in Bologna and my main inspiration is the work of Massimo Osti, as you know. I consider myself some sort of a “purist” with a clear vision on how I want to develop my project.” Which perfectly sums up the levels of passion and experience that goes into each of these premium, limited edition, 100% Italian jackets.
