Levi’s Vintage SS16 – ELESCO Baseball Team

LVC-SS16-Baseball-9938

The peerless LVC have been delving into the dugout and the history of the Levi Strauss and Co. Base Ball Club that was set up back in the very early days of the company. By 1909 the team name was changed to ‘Elesco’ (a playful take on the company’s LS&Co. initials) and as baseball became increasingly more popular Levi’s went on to launch it’s ‘Homerun’ line of youth wear in the 1920s which featured a baseball diamond on it’s woven label.

So for SS16 Levi’s Vintage Clothing have paid tribute both to the Elesco team and the Homerun line by recreating some of the best pieces from the brand’s impressive history in sportswear. Highlights include a reproduction of their earliest denim jacket, a handwoven 1930s ‘flapper’ shirt and a baseball tee in plated jersey. Oh and as if that wasn’t enough incredible attention to detail and jaw-dropping Americana they’ve also done a photo-shoot that looks like Babe Ruth’s photo album. Sterling work once again LVC, I take my (vintage 49ers) hat off to you, you really are in a league of your own.
