[Mix] Nancy Noise : Where the Wild Things Are

The night Nancy wore her Noise suit and made mischief of one kind

and another

her mother called her “WILD THING!”

and Nancy said “I’LL EAT YOU UP!”

So she was sent to bed without eating anything.

That very night in Nancy’s room a forest grew

and grew – and grew until her ceiling hung with vines

and the walls became the world all around

and an ocean tumbled by with a private boat for Nancy

and she sailed off through night and day

and in and out of weeks

and almost over a year

to Where the Wild Things Are.

And when she came to the place Where the Wild Things Are

they roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth

and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws

till Nancy said “BE STILL!”

And tamed them with the magic trick

of staring into all their wild eyes without blinking once

and they were frightened and called her the most wild thing of all

and made her queen of all wild things.

“And now,” cried Nancy, “let the wild rumpus start!”

It fits doesn’t it, the girl who was there at a most exciting time, in any time. Who witnessed and unknowingly influenced through seizing the moment offered her, the cultural landscape of the mid 80’s to the present, from Ibiza to London, to the world.

Although the passage above has been remixed from a children’s book from the 60’s, in this writer’s humble opinion, the memoirs of this month’s guest mix DJ, would be just as magical and full of adventure and wonder. But Nancy it would seem has further adventures to embark on. With a new musical excursion due out in March, and some dates out doing what she does best.

Whether it be starting the wild rumpus or soundtracking the setting sun, the world is a better place for the likes of Nancy Noise. All hail the Queen of the wild things.

Forthcoming is Nancy’s new release on Beyond Paradise Recordings titled Kaia/Azizi’s Dance – with remixes from Leo Mas & Fabrice and Man Power – release date March 1st – followed by remixes from the man like Andrew Weatherall.

If you’re out and about you can catch Nancy at both Alfresco &  Farr Festivals.
