The year 1988 was a very special one in the UK, for not only did we discover the immense pleasures of Acid house and Balearic beats but Gloverall also released this particular style of duffle coat. This style is the one that Sunspel have chosen to bring back as part of their AW16 collab with the Northamptonshire brand whose incredible duffles are worn and loved the world over. They’ve cropped the length and tweaked a few parts from the design here and there to give it a more modern, updated feel with and the Sunspel treatment coming via their subtle crest laser cut onto the water buffalo horn toggles as well as the substantial double-faced wool interior layer that they created that features their brilliant trademark T-shirt stripe. The resulting coat is a work of sheer understated beauty that perfectly combines the best of both these wonderful British brands with a really nice duffle-meets-pea-coat kinda vibe going on too.
