Goldie fronts Baracuta x NEIGHBORHOOD collaboration

It’s not all that often that a model suits a collaboration as well as they do in this one.

We’ve not met Goldie but he seems like a pretty interesting fella, his career progression has been very much here-there-and-everywhere.

He initially gained exposure for his work as a graffiti artist and then went on to become a pioneer in the 1990s UK jungle and drum & bass scene forming his cult record label, Metalheadz, in the process. Then there’s his sterling performance as the slightly-slow-bad-boy-yardie, Lincoln, in Guy Ritchie’s hit gangster film ‘Snatch.’ Upon doing some research turns out he’s appeared in a James Bond film as well. Mad.

Goldie’s latest step on his already encyclopedic career chessboard takes him into the realm of modelling. Specifically, for a collaboration between Manchester-based heritage brand Baracuta and Japanese streetwear brand NEIGHBORHOOD.

At Proper we’re usually a big fan of when a heritage brand comes together with a non-heritage brand. Sometimes, though, somewhere along the line something goes amiss and they don’t quite scratch the itch. Fortunately, this one does, otherwise, we wouldn’t be writing about it.

The collection explores the shared design dialogue between heritage British tailoring and Japanese streetwear. The collection is comprised of four items, don’t worry we won’t beat about the proverbial bush, we’ll get into the best ones first. The jackets.

NEIGHBORHOOD has selected two Baracuta silhouettes to try their hand at, the G9 Harrington jacket and the G4 jacket. The Harrington jacket is the more lowkey of the duo and features a NEIGHBORHOOD back graphic print and obviously, the classic tartan lining.

The G4 jacket is definitely the most Lincoln from Snatch item of the collection. It’s constructed from MIL-SPEC liners and boasts Sukajan-style artwork of tigers, dragons, and penguins. Only joking there’s no penguins.

There’s also a cap and sweater included in the capsule, both featuring co-branded embroidery.

The collection can be purchased from here if you’re UK-based and here if you’re Japan-based.
