At Proper we’re always excited by brands appearing in different corners of the world, with each country influencing a brand’s design and styling cues, whether this be intentionally or unintentionally. One brand that’s been on our radar for a little while is Indonesia-based brand, Woodensun.
Woodensun is an emerging label whose design focuses on blending art and fashion with an added flair for storytelling. Launched in 2015, the brand often pulls together the talents of designers, printmakers, and photographers to craft unique collections.
After trawling through Woodensun’s gear for a little while we’ve realised two things, firstly, it’s good stuff and secondly, we need to get ourselves over to Indonesia.
Their latest collection titled ‘Mystical’ seems to draw inspiration from just about everywhere, but is primarily influenced by the notion of your life being a journey, that ultimately, has an end. But on a more positive note, the gang at Woodensun believe that focusing on the special moments throughout your life is what is truly important. The Mystical collection attempts to capture the joy and ecstasy felt in these moments, with the clothes featuring bright graphics and relaxed cuts.
The collection has been shot in a pretty playful way as well, sort of like when your mate takes a photo of you and you pull a daft pose – all of these attributes produce a very feel-good set of garb, we’re smiling just looking at it. So we recommend you do the same by casting your eyes a few centimetres down the screen.
