Saucony pick three models to undergo GORE-TEX treatment

Just to clarify the title, Saucony isn’t filling human models with waterproof membranes, they’re doing it with footwear models.

If you’ve spent much time here, it quickly becomes apparent that we’re into waterproof stuff. We’re especially into the most well-known kind of waterproof stuff – GORE-TEX. Something about that word just gets us excited, we think it’s probably because GORE-TEX is a material and not a clothing brand, meaning no one can ruin it by doing a dodgy collection.

So yeah, we like GORE-TEX, and we also like Saucony. So you can predict our excitement when an email with both of those names came barrelling into our inbox.

The efforts from Saucony and Robert & Bill Gore’s wonder fabric is a GORE-TEX collaboration that’s done right. No messing about and wasting the collaboration on a new design that no one really cares for. Instead, Saucony has selected three of their most popular outdoor and running shoe designs to undergo the weatherproofing treatment.

Those three designs are the Grid Peak, the Grid Shadow 2, and the Triumph 22.

The Grid Peak is Saucony’s trail-lifestyle amalgamation that offers the durability of a trail running shoe that’s also comfy enough to wear all day. Constructed of mesh, synthetic nubuck, unique webbing and now GORE-TEX, the Grid Peak looks to be a tasty contender for those infrequent Sundays when you find yourself standing in some boggy field just hours after eating a roast dinner.

The Grid Shadow 2 is Saucony’s modern take on one of their classic models, the Grid Shadow. The GORE-TEX rendition of the trainer sees it come in three strong colourways – all black, olive green – and the pick of the bunch – a yellow and black model that’s reminiscent of GORE-TEX’s own logo.

The Triumph 22 is definitely the model for those who are actually athletic, and not for those who like wearing sportswear to pretend they are. The shoe features PWRRUN PB cushioning that’s meant to help to provide cushioning when on long runs – not that we know anything about that. This collaboration sees the Triumph 22 come in a bluey kind of colour with a sole that features purple and yellow hits. This colour combo probably helps you run faster or something.

We reckon that all three models have been chosen expertly well, and more importantly, all three provide that waterproof protection you need when drinking out of a wide-mouth Nalgene bottle.
