We’re on a bit of a boot kick at the minute, we can’t get enough of strapping our feet in large leather or synthetic protection as the weather continues to get colder. It’s one of the best things about this time of year.
What makes us even more excited about boot season is the number of new boots that are sure to be released in boot season. These new releases are the ideal thing to put on your Christmas list – only to be shunned for wanting another pair of footwear by friends and family.
Anyway, we’re using this as a segway for a new boot release, and it’s suffice to say we’re pretty excited about it.
That new release is the KEEN x Mountain Research collaboration.
But unlike some releases, this partnership has a definite purpose, and that’s to celebrate 15 years of KEEN’s Pyrenees Waterproof Hiking Boot. The Pyrenees boot is constructed of leather and synthetic materials, utilizes KEEN’s waterproof membrane and has that signature wide toe box – all of which have contributed to its cult following by hikers of all shapes, sizes and abilities.
So where does MOUNTAIN RESEARCH come into this?
Well, if you must know, Japanese brand, MOUNTAIN RESEARCH made its debut in 2006 as the 1st “Research” project to be launched following its predecessor titled General Research. MOUNTAIN RESEARCH puts the philosophy of making equipment that could be used to live in the mountains at the forefront of design.
Pretty much, MOUNTAIN RESEARCH has taken the KEEN Pyrenees and given it the standard Japanese clothing brand makeover, in other words, making it look really nice.
This has been done by setting a plush brown suede upper atop a grey midsole, the upper is also accompanied by black eyelets that a pair of tasteful yellow laces run through.
Looking to the back of the boot, MOUNTAIN RESEARCH have added an embossed wreath on the heel as well as the text HOLIDAY IN THE MOUNTAIN onto the tongue.
We’re a big fan of special occasions as well as nice looking boots so this collaboration is a winner for us, the boots sort of look like a lovely chocolate bar for your feet.
If you fancy a pair of birthday Pyrenees’s they can be purchased from here.
