It is most definitely getting to prime pub weather. Some people reckon that the summer is the best time to get down the boozer, but we’re not having it. Nothing better than arriving at the pub in the dark, settling in front of a fire, having 6 – 14 pints and then leaving, once again, in the dark.
The pub is a place of respite, somewhere you can go to recharge, which sounds odd because usually, you leave half the man you were when you walked in. One of the best things about the pub is getting dressed to go to the pub – it shouldn’t take that long or involve too much faffing, usually just whacking a pair of trousers on, some kind of knitwear and then reaching for a sizeable coat.
There is actually a type of garment called a pub jacket, but they’re a bit weird looking, and for us, much too on the nose. Imagine telling your mates that you’re purchasing a jacket purely to wear to the pub. Strange behaviour.
It’s not strange behaviour to buy a piece of clothing and have the pub in mind when making that purchase though, some items are just the right level of smart-enough-casual that they’re ideal for weeknight boozing. Certain brands seem to lend themselves well to this sort of garment, and one that we reckon produces some prime pub-appropriate clothing is Nanamica.
They’ve just produced an entourage of new outerwear that the nice people over at The Garbstore are looking after, in other words, it’s available there.
We’ve selected four pieces of outerwear with pubbing in mind. Starting with a lovely Navy Mohair Vest. We think a vest is the perfect piece of clothing when entering an atmosphere that may vary in warmth, they provide an amount of temperature regulation that is spot-on. Sitting next to the fire – zip it down, sitting next to a door that keeps opening – zip it up. This one from Nanamica being made out of mohair also scores you obvious style points.

The second item we’ve selected for purveying fine ales is their GORE-TEX Short Down Jacket. This thing looks to be toasty, waterproof thanks to its GORE-TEX membrane and in-turn pint-proof. You’d still be gutted if you got Amstel all down this though. The jacket comes in a lovely colourway they’re calling wet sand and is definitely going to be warm enough to make occupying a doorway chuffing on Benson & Hedges all night a pleasurable affair.

Our final pub-appropriate pick is a Reversible Down Cardigan, other than it looking smart and being warm, we’re especially excited by the reversibility element of this piece of outerwear. If you’re planning a big beano somewhere, you could just take this and flip it the other way around when it begins to show questionable alcohol-induced stains.

So there you go, that’s our guide to pubbing with Nanamica and The Garbstore, we hope you enjoyed it, we did – buzzing for the next trip to the free house.
