Shoes made in Japan are cool. Actually, pretty much anything made in Japan is cool. So in the Proper office, we get pretty excited when any news pertaining anything to do with Japan floats through our virtual post-box, like this new announcement from Mizuno.
The announcement being, that the Japanese running shoe aficionados are bringing out four Wave Prophecy LS colourways as mainstays for the brand this autumn season.
If your knowledge doesn’t stretch much beyond the Wave Prophecy LS being that shoe with a crazy sole you can see through, here’s a quick run-down…
Originally designed from the Wave Prophecy 8 Runner, the LS combines a futuristic aesthetic with AIRmesh breathability to produce a trainer that balances lifestyle and performance in equal measure. Unsurprisingly, all of Mizuno’s Wave models utilize a Wave Plate, which is largely what contributes to their coolness, in our view.
Anyway, now you’re clued up on what the Wave Prophecy LS is, we can reveal the actual novel and exciting news – the four fantastic colourways it’s now available in. ..
Starting off, the much-loved classic triple Black colourway returns to the Mizuno line-up alongside an all-new Silver, Black and Opal Grey colourway that shares the same material DNA.
But looking beyond the synthetic pairs is where the Mizunews gets really exciting – they’ve also introduced two new suede models. Coming in two colourways titled Vulcan, Pristine and Quiet Shade as well as Mole, Pristine and Fungi, which sees plush suede panelling merged with a mesh upper that is then set atop that iconic wave sole unit.
Our pick of the bunch is the Mole & Fungi model, you’d imagine from the names of the colours these would be absolutely perfect for autumn, and you’ll be pleased to hear they are, the suede appears to be the colour of a very milk tea.
We view these suede renditions as the more wholesome playful relatives to the original synthetic Wave Prophecy LS which we find can be a bit mean and cold-looking. Not that we’re scared of them or anything.
