You’re always hearing things from older folk about ‘back in the day’, mainly revolving around stuff being way cheaper and how you could easily get bargains that simply aren’t possible anymore. I for one know I’m instantly hooked when hearing tales of what eBay was like when it first came out, or pre-internet car boot sales.
Wrongly, I believed that the era of when you could pick quality gear up for very cheap was over. That was until I found out about the annual Gramicci, Wild Things & Friends sample sale…
Last year I was scrolling on Instagram, an activity I very much enjoy doing, when I came across a flyer detailing an outdoor clothing sample sale scheduled to take place in Manchester, I couldn’t really believe what I was reading and instantly binned off all other plans I had that day.
The day came around, I whacked on my most intimidating outdoor outfit, boarded the train from Liverpool and marched over to the hallowed area known as Wellington Mill – I was ready to go into battle and queued up with all the other eager punters. When they let us inside it turned into a manic frenzy, everyone ecstatically perusing rails stuffed to the brim with very heavily discounted Gramicci, KAVU, Manastash, Stan Ray, Topo Designs and loads of other fantastic brands.
I ended up leaving the Mill about an hour and a half later, boarding the train with a load of stuff that I didn’t really need, but never the less I was very pleased with the selection – until I got home and realised in the heat of the moment I’d bought stuff in completely the wrong sizes.
But that doesn’t matter now, because this mythical sample sale is taking place once again, same place, same time.
I’m definitely going to be going, and usually, I would try and keep this kind of thing a secret, but I’m going through a reflective phase and have decided that the ordeal is too good not to share.
So if you’ve got any sense, purchase a FREE ticket from here, and get yourself down to Wellington Mill in Manchester on the 1st + 2nd of November.
