KESTIN bring back a classic for AW24 Outdoor Garments

We feel like Scotland might not get as much love as it deserves on Proper, but the truth is we reckon it’s well alright – battered Mars bars, tennents, beautiful scenery and lovely people.

One thing that we’ve missed off that comprehensive list of stuff we like about Scotland is KESTIN, who have recently unveiled their Outdoor Garments offerings for AW24.

If you’re unfamiliar about KESTIN’s Outdoor Garments collection, here’s a bit of background…

Outdoor Garments was introduced in Winter 2023 as a capsule of technical outerwear pieces that were designed to withstand the harsh Scottish weather, this release provided a whole host of lovely garments and also marked the introduction of a jacket which would come to have a cult following – the Cuillin Down Jacket.

The Cuillin Down Jacket is an immediately recognisable coat due to its onion-quilted construction, which is then stuffed with 600-fill-power down, the result – a fantastic looking and winter weather-ready winter option.

If you belong to the tribe of Cuillin Jacket fanatics you should be pretty amped to hear that it’s returning in not just one, but three colourways for the AW24 instalment of Outdoor Garments.

The three colours are Washed Black, Light Olive & Dark Orange, and if you care about our opinion, we think the orange is head and shoulders above the rest – not that the other two are bad though, but the orange is just so good.

Accompanying the feather-filled jacket is a feather-filled vest that takes its DNA from the Cuillin Jacket and for that reason is called the Cuillin Down Vest, which is almost as nice as the jacket, but the fact they’ve decided not to make it in orange lets it down marginally.

We’re a big fan of onion-y quilting, but we think there can be a preconception that it’s a bit of a fashion thing more than an outdoors thing, but KESTINS AW24 campaign for Outdoor Garments sets the record straight.

The campaign documents Hamish Frost and Tim Exley, two renowned hardy climbers making their ascent of Fiacaill Ridge and Coire an t-Sneachda – so have that all you onion quilt sceptics.
