PUMA seem to be going from strength to strength at the minute, every other day they seem to release a top-notch trab in partnership with a pretty important person.
Last year they launched a wildly successful campaign with A$AP Rocky and it was only the other day we were talking about their collaboration with Skepta – whoever is pulling the strings behind the scenes at PUMA, we’d just like to say, good job.
Just when you thought the brand would take a bit of respite, they’ve only gone and done a campaign with Dutch International, Xavi Simons.
Simons & PUMA have partnered up to reveal a subsequent release of the PUMA Inhale, shortly after A$AP Rocky fronted its inaugural appearance in 2023.
The Inhale has been inspired by human biology, and if we know anything about trainers, we’d say this is a good start – after all Sergio Lozano’s AirMax 95 was modelled on the human body.
The anatomical inspiration of the shoe is instanced directly by the bright red & purple tendril-like lines which span the shoe’s upper, evoking imagery of blood-pumping arteries. These gradient features contrast with the shoe’s black mesh upper. It’s pretty mad looking if we’re honest, and definitely one that takes some doing to pull off.
Fortunately for PUMA, in Xavi Simons, they’ve tapped just the right man for the job. Simons has styled the Inhale excellently well with a relaxed blacked-out PUMA getup and even a PUMA chain to match – it’s a bit weird not seeing him in orange, to be honest.
PUMA are most certainly frontrunners of the brands producing #Y2K gear at the minute, and whilst it’s not the most Proper thing in the world, we’re most certainly into it. Kind of like your dad when you got a pair of flash football boots when you were younger.
