KESTIN launch ‘Made in Scotland’ knitwear collection

We wrote an article the other day about KESTIN and the latest release of their Outdoor Garments collection.

In the introduction to that article, we wrote something about Scotland being pretty alright due to it being the home of battered Mars Bars, Tennent’s, beautiful scenery and lovely people, and while this is all true, we missed something pretty vital off the list…

Knitwear.

Scottish knitwear is arguably the best in the world thanks to the area’s perfect combination of sheep, skilled workers and cold temperatures – if you’re looking for the best knitwear money can buy, you’re going to want to only begin searching when you’re north of The Toon.

In our minds, if you’re a Scottish clothing brand and you don’t produce knitwear, you need us to come and give your head a vigorous wobble.

One brand that is safe from our threats of head wobbling though is KESTIN, as they’ve just announced an AW24 campaign titled ‘Made in Scotland,’ and best believe it’s full to the brim of woolly Scottish delights.

For the collection, KESTIN has worked with a family-operated factory out of Dumfries & Galloway to produce a host of understated yet classic silhouettes, alongside some more intricate styles which take inspiration from vintage Scottish knitwear.

Well, KESTIN must have raided the most stylish Scottish grandad’s wardrobe for their inspiration because the entire collection is tremendous.

For what it’s worth, our favourite of the bunch is the Harris Shetland Mock Neck… and the Fife Gansey Knit… oh, and the Arran Cable Knit… actually, we really like the Brushed Shetland Crew as well… you know what, it’s all well good.

KESTIN always seem to produce nice imagery to accompany their collections, and this time is no different. The gang travelled to the Isle of Arran AKA knitwear utopia – an area of rolling hills and fields that’s also home to many of Scotland’s neolithic structures. The photos remind us a little bit of The Lighthouse (2019) but without the descent into mind-altering-monkey-pump-fuelled lunacy.
