When you’re really into clothes and work with lots of clothes the natural progression is to get really into working on your own clothes, in other words, create your own brand.
This is a concept we’re as familiar with as anyone, what with creating our own brand, Hikerdelic, back in 2018. But as much as we could wax lyrical about how great we are and how good Hikerdelic is, this isn’t that.
What it is though, is celebrating the debut collection of another great brand, birthed by premium Swedish retailer, KA YO.

Since its foundation in 2021, KA YO has quickly become one of the go-to destinations in Sweden for those seeking durable and innovative outdoor, running and trail gear. Every time we go onto KA YO’s website we end up closing the Google Chrome tab about £100 lighter – a testament to just how good the store is.
Anyway, KA YO has followed that natural progression to making their own nice clothes with the introduction of a debut collection titled, KA YO_Prototype_001.
The collection draws inspiration from dark Nordic forests and also… grapes.
That’s right – grapes. Specifically, Solaris Grapes, which are renowned for their ability to thrive and ripen in Sweden’s harsh environment – we’re assuming that this has come across in terms of the collection’s construction and design, not that any of it will actually taste like grapes.
The collection, to us at least, looks like a mad mix of futuristic running & hiking-inspired clobber. With hero pieces of the collection are a hard shell jacket with loads of reflective detailing, as well as a panelled fleece, also with loads of reflective detailing. There’s an additional smattering of lovely legwear, a cap, a titanium mug, an insulated vest and lots of other good stuff.
One of the reasons we reckon the collection is so great is thanks to how KA YO have clearly incorporated their years of working with outdoor clothing into the collection’s designs. The authenticity that is associated with the cult retailer has directly translated to the authenticity of the clothing, and you know us, we’re all for stuff like that.
We’re hoping that this marks the start of something big for KA YO and that we’ll soon be writing about the KA YO_Prototype_132 collection.
