We just can’t seem to get enough of writing about PUMA on here, and what’s even better is that they make it well easy for us by releasing loads of nice gear.
The latest bit of nice gear they’ve released comes in the form of a shoe that we’re very much into, but would probably never have the bottle to wear…
Yes, we’re talking about the Mostro.
As spikey as it is cool, the Mostro was introduced to the PUMA line-up in 1999, with its name meaning monster in Italian. The shoe’s conceptual design was inspired by sprinting spikes of the ’60s and chilled-out surf footwear of the ’80s, the result is a piece of footwear that fuses both past and present, but most definitely looks more futuristic than it does medieval, and the latest release certainly reaffirms this.
The most recent edition of the monster-shoe we’ve been treated to comes in a duo package of colourways – Electric Lime, and Lavender. Both colourways have quite literally given the Mostro a proper paint job, in that the shoe is entirely one colour, sort of like they’ve fallen into a vat of acid or a vat of lavender (if such a thing could exist.)
The footwear duo has aptly been titled the ‘Ecstasy’ pack, and to be honest, we can feel our dopamine levels rising just by looking at them. PUMA has shot the campaign alongside the backdrop of dusky Marseille, and it only serves to highlight how bright this version of the Mostro is.
They’re certainly bold, probably too bold for us to wear if we’re being honest, but that just makes us more intrigued by them – the spikey sole that wraps around the toe, strap closure system, and now monochromatic colour scheme – it’s all just a bit mad.
If you fancy a bit of madness in your life, you’ll be able to purchase a pair from END., Slam Jam or SNS on November 23rd, 2024.
