The gilet, vest or jacket without arms is something that everybody should have in their outerwear arsenal, it can really elevate those lacklustre outfits and make you look like you’ve got all your ducks in a nice straight line, when in reality, your ducks would actually cause Tony Soprano to have a panic attack.
What we’re trying to say is that there’s something about them that adds credibility, and makes you look like you know what you’re doing, we reckon this is the reason that they’re often favoured by corporate robots, as a sort of clever visual marketing.
So, we’re going to have a look at six of the finest vests on the market right now that can transform you from looking like a nobody, into a nobody that’s trying to blag being a somebody. Actually, that’s a bit of a pessimistic outlook, truth be told, we’re just recommending some vests to you we think are well nice.
Adsum Alpine Down Vest
Although the vest appears to be a pretty straightforward garment, don’t be deceived, it isn’t. This is due to there being many, many different types, hunting vests, fleece vests, sweater vests etc. This one from Adsum appears to be closest to a hunting vest, but given its colour you’d have a hard time actually getting the drop on anything. Besides being beautiful and blue, this vest is filled with down and will keep everything but your arms as toasty as anything.
Goldwin 0 Three Dimensional Down Light Vest
This vest from Goldwin is a bit of a gamechanger, and that’s due to it incorporating Goldwin’s new 3D Box Baffle Technology, which we wrote about here. If you can’t be bothered to read that though, the long and short of it is that the down won’t shift around as much in these baffles, ultimately keeping you warmer. Also worth mentioning that we’re a big fan of this mud kind of colour.
KAVU Cooper Fleece Vest
Despite its name, this vest has absolutely no relation to the main character in Christopher Nolan’s 2014 masterpiece, Interstellar. Don’t be deterred by this fact though, it’s still extremely nice and does expertly well to execute corduroy and fleece in the same garment – no easy feat.
Wild Things Cordura Reversible Vest
Due to vests’ relatively simple construction, they’re ideal candidates for being reversible, and believe it or not, this one from Wild Things is. We’ve chosen to showcase the purple fleece side because it’s a bit more out there, the other side is really nice as well though, but you’ll have to click on the link to see that, won’t you?
Montbell Superior Down Vest
If you’re not familiar with Montbell’s Superior Down series, then get to know – it’s some of the lightest, warmest and best-looking down produce available, and the Superior Down Vest is no exception to this rule. We’re a big fan of the square stitched baffles and have no doubt that it basically feels like you’re wearing nothing, which sounds like it might be a bit weirdly motivated, but we promise it isn’t.
Nanga Hinoc Down Vest
Rounding off our list of quick-fire vests is this one with pockets aplenty from Nanga. Not only does it have lots of pockets, but is also flame retardant, so pound for pound is undoubtedly the best vest for firefighters on this list, although they’ll never know it – we’re doubtful that anyone who holds such an important role would ever read our silly words about clothes we like.
