Dickies hark back to 90s for new denim collection

There’s nothing we love more here than mainlining a bit of clothing induced nostalgia.

Anything that is reminiscent of the uniform of a bygone era, we’re into, and we’re doubly into it if a brand releases a nostalgia-inducing collection that’s centred around an era where their heritage was built.

You can imagine our excitement, then, when we heard the announcement that Dickies were unveiling a collection all about oversized baggy denim.

Dickies are no strangers to working with denim, after all, it is one of the original workwear fabrics – hardwearing, stylish and easily repairable – all attributes that made it so popular with the original American working man all those years ago.

It’s also these attributes that made Dickies denim products popular with other demographics, namely skaters and hip-hop enthusiasts of the ’90s.

You definitely don’t need us to explain how both of those groups wore their denim, but it was baggy, proper baggy, and it’s these groups and their specific style of dress that has informed the Dickies Pre-SS25 denim collection.

The collection contains two standout styles, the Loose Wave Denim jeans and the Denim Bomber Hooded Jacket. The jeans are a modern reinterpretation of a beloved ’90s Dickies classic, the ‘Big Daddy,’ a silhouette that was originally popularised within the hip-hop scene for its roomy fit and rugged construction. Besides the fit, the jeans also pay homage to that era through the Dickies script logo located on the rear of the jeans.

Paired with the jeans is the hooded denim jacket, an oversized and hardwearing number that wouldn’t look out of place in the back of a ’90s Wu-Tang video.

The jeans are available in a trio of washes – a light blue, deep indigo and what we can only describe as a teabag colour kind of wash, whereas the jacket is only available in the former colourways and misses out on the teabag treatment.

The Dickies pre-SS25 denim drop will be available to purchase from the Dickies website from the 3rd December.
