JJJJound and DESCENTE join for Winter 2024 collaboration

JJJJound and DESCENTE have unveiled the first chapter of their Winter 2024 collaboration, a finely tuned drop that marries cutting-edge performance with quiet, refined minimalism—perfectly suited for your festive forays or winter walks.

DESCENTE’s isn’t a brand we have written about loads here on Proper, but they’ve been around for nearly 90 years. In that time they’ve fostered a rep for high-performance sportswear which provides the perfect foundation for this collection. It’s all about reimagining alpine-inspired staples for life off the mountain.

At a time when dark and moody seems to be the prevailing colour, this release goes the other way, bringing a bit of blue sky thinking to the table. The range comes in an understated palette of light storm blue and light grey, crafted for optimal layering during the colder months. Breathable mesh athletic tees and 1/4-zip microfleece sweaters form the base, creating the perfect starting point for any winter look. On top, a sleek nylon ripstop vest and a streamlined puffer jacket provide insulation without unnecessary bulk, offering both form and function. Accessories—microfleece gloves, a ski mask, and a nylon/mesh cap with tape-seamed detailing—round out the collection, each item executed with subtlety for everyday wear.

The ethos behind this release looks at two archetypes—the understated, refined individual and the rugged urban adventurer—this collaboration challenges the conventions of traditional performance wear.

Above all, like all the best collabs it’s a meeting of two mindsets to create something new. On that score, it perfectly blends DESCENTE’s heritage of technical innovation with JJJJound’s minimalist ethos, bringing the spirit of the slopes to the streets. Chapter 1 redefines what it means to be prepared for winter in the city.

The JJJJound x DESCENTE Chapter 1 collection drops globally on Thursday, Dec 12, exclusively on JJJJound.com, and will be available in select DESCENTE retailers in Japan, Korea, and China starting Friday, Dec 13.
