Futsol release 1960s Brazil inspired tracksuit as part of AW24 drop

When the weather is grim outside, and it almost always is, one of the ways we like to lift our spirits is by looking at whatever Portuguese brand, Futsol, are doing.

The brand was born out of a kickabout on a beach in Alentejo, and whenever we gaze at their fine selection of attire, we can’t help but feel like we’ve been transported there – and then the sounds of heavy rainfall and a Northern man shouting reminds us we’re most definitely still in Manchester…

The latest bit of news from the brand actually comes as part of their Autumn Winter collection, but of course, we’re talking about Portuguese winter here, not Manchester winter – so don’t be expecting any bubble jackets.

What the collection doesn’t have in down-filled outerwear, it makes up for with a selection of retro football training gear-inspired cotton-constituted niceties.

The centrepiece of the drop is the Warm-Up Quarter Zip, which takes its cues from the iconic 1960s Brazil tracksuit, a piece synonymous with Pele & co. Crafted from ultra-soft French terry cotton marl, it looks just as viable for a kip on the couch as it does for warming up for a sporting activity.

Accompanying the quarter zip is a pair of Warm-Up Pants, featuring a sleek Futsol insignia on the upper leg and a Japanese-made knit tape stripe running down the side.

We’re also big into the 70’s Knit Long-Sleeve. Made in Portugal from 100% cotton, it tastefully references the golden age of football shirts, without overdoing the whole nostalgia thing.

To round things off, there’s also a nice club scarf and striped socks.

And for a minute there, we were back on that beach in Alentejo, but a man threatening to throw gravy through our window reminds us that we’re most definitely, still in Manchester.
