Revered running footwear aficionados, Altra, have drafted the expertise of Italian outdoor clothing fanatics, ROA to create an all-weather edition of their Timp 5 GTX ROA.
The two brands have worked together to produce a rendition of the Timp 5 where trail-running tech has been reimagined with ROA’s high-minded design cues, ready to turn heads on the hills and streets alike.
Naturally, the core influence on the collaboration comes from the natural world, you know, trees and the like.
“Nature doesn’t just inspire us—it sets the blueprint,” says ROA’s Creative Director Patrick Stangbye, “Spend enough time in the mountains, and earthy tones become second nature. They’re not just colours; they’re a language.” This ethos is woven (or blocked, rather) seamlessly into the design, with ROA’s signature muted aesthetic dressing Altra’s cult-favourite Timp 5 in a way that’s equal parts understated and technical.
But don’t mistake this for a hollow exercise in hype, Altra’s President, Jennifer McLaren explains that “Partnering with ROA wasn’t about chasing trends—it was about aligning with a brand that shares our belief in purposeful design.” The result of this? They’ve created a shoe that’s all brains and brawn, with a good dose of ROA’s succinct styling thrown in for good measure.

A Vibram® Megagrip outsole ensures you won’t be sliding around, whether you’re hitting wet rock or dry dirt. The Altra EGO™ MAX midsole is cushioned, bouncy, and built to go the distance. Altra’s trademark roomy toe box and zero-drop platform are also utilized, although we’re not quite sure what the latter feature actually means.
