The start of the calendar year can be pretty bleak what with the joyous amounts of rain, sludge and snow associated with it.
It’s easy to let the less-than-jovial weather-related inconveniences get you down, but you’ve got to look on the bright side – when else are you able to wear three T-shirts, two jackets, joggers underneath jeans and a pair of boots in one outfit?
These months always turn our attention to brands that provide hardwearing and foul weather-ready gear such as Timberland, and what a coincidence, they’ve just announced a new collection…
The collection is titled ‘Crafted From The Core,’ and presents elevated iterations of some of the brand’s most iconic gear.
Obviously the most iconic Timberland gear are boots, so we’ll get into them first.
The Crafted From The Core collection sees the classic 6-inch waterproof return in a heritage rendition, with a choice of two paint jobs – smooth black & tan nubuck – and whilst the black does look ideal for cat-burglaries, we reckon the tan nubuck is the pick of the duo.
Accompanying these classics is the refined and sleek Eurohiker Lace-Up Boot, coming in a sensible stone and tan colourway.
Following on from the boots is another Timberland all-time classic, the 3-Eye Boat Shoe, now we thought that the traditional all-tan colourway couldn’t be topped, but seeing these in the stone has given us our doubts – very nice indeed.
If you thought that Timberland would only provide offerings for the feet in this release, you’d be sorely mistaken, as they’ve kindly thrown in a smattering of cotton products to cover the rest of your body.
Very rarely do we think a T-shirt steals the show from a release, but in this one that might just be the case – the Boots With Roots T-shirt conjures up an immense feeling of vintage graphic tee nostalgia within us, it almost looks like merchandise for a ’90s band called Boots With Roots, which is a pretty good name now we think about it.
Finishing off the collection is the Stafford Canvas Jacket, a hardy-looking work jacket constructed of 100% organic cotton in a very nice faded greeny olive wash.
