Danish brand hummel unveils Greenland 2025 away kit

For a country with fewer than 100,000 inhabitants, Greenland has garnered more than its fair share of column inches of late. It’s a nation that has enjoyed links to the European continent for over a thousand years, despite its location on the North American continent. There are those who would break that link if they could, and while we’re not the most respected political voice on the web, we’re not really onboard with that.

We do know about football shirts though, and when it comes to iconic brands in that arena, hummel is pretty much unrivalled. Known as the outfitter for that iconic Danish Dynamite team of 1986, their impact on the culture of football kits is well-known.

Denmark has enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Greenland for more than 200 years, so hummel providing the Greenlandic National Team with playing kit makes loads of sense. Having launched a popular home kit, they’re back with an away kit, photographed in situ on the largest island in the world. Looks pretty cold.

Designed to serve as a powerful symbol of resilience, unity, and pride, the kit seeks its inspiration from the vast and unyielding Ice Sheet that defines the breathtaking landscape and enduring spirit of Greenland.

The design takes inspiration from the intricate natural patterns on the landscape, shaped by the ice. Its textured graphics celebrate the quiet yet immense power of the glaciers, while subtle avittat-inspired details on the sleeves pay homage to the artistry of traditional Greenlandic attire, such as kamikker and embroidered national suits.

While it might not be worn at a high profile international tournament any time soon, it’d be nice if this kit enjoyed popularity outside of the country it represents, if only as a quiet display of support and defiance for a territory that is more than a political plaything.

Launching today, this Greenland away kit is available at selected stores.
