Not many footwear brands have the ability to balance robustness with delicacy in equal measure, but we reckon Flower Mountain does just that.
Every time we view a pair, either through a screen or in hand, we’re forever amazed by the subtle intricacies of the Italian design that are then presented on a canvas of hardwearing and innovative materials. We guess Flower Mountain is the ideal name for them, in that respect. Beautiful, but rugged.
Anyway, before we get too carried away and run off into the sunset with the brand, we should probably provide some context to our ramblings, which has been induced by the recent announcement detailing a collaboration in partnership with London-based designer Nicholas Daley.
Daley is a designer not afraid of intricate detail himself, often opting for lesser spotted, eye-catching fabrics and patterns, so you can only begin to imagine how good the shoe looks. Or you could just have a look.

The silhouette selected by the parties is Flower Mountain’s bestselling Iwano 2 model, which has been reimagined and brought to life by the use of Japanese recycled water-repellent nylon and natural waxed cottons, not only providing good visual performance, but also good outdoor performance.
Key design elements include a signature Nicholas Daley tartan insole, antique brass detailing, and that all-important Vibram sole, adorned with Flower Mountain’s iconic triangle design, keep in minds that this may be a good choice for climbing hills, but not so much conducting illicit activities in the snow (it’s pretty recognisable)
The most salient design change from a typical Flower Mountain model is undoubtedly the new lacing system, where a cord runs through cotton herringbone taping and is closed with a toggle, we’re a big fan of these types of lacing systems because it means you don’t have to laboriously untie your laces every time you take your shoes off.
There is some bad news though. Actually two bits of bad news.
Firstly, there’s no lifestyle imagery of them yet, and secondly, that’s because they’re not out for quite a while. Until FW25 to be exact.
But best believe when those (future) cold months roll around, we’ll be there to remind you.
