We’re at that time of year where the sun begins to come out of hiding, and with this so are boulderers and climbers that have quietly been hibernating within the warm confines of a climbing gym all winter.
Although we should feel lucky to be basking in the occasional sunshine, let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. It’s still freezing. These low temperatures seem to present mixed feelings for climbers, and usually they’ll belong to one of two camps…
The first being… ‘These conditions are fantastic. The rock is super dry. There’s no moisture. I’m going to send my project!’
And the second… ‘It’s freezing. I’m going home.‘
Despite the divisive conditions, both parties can agree that approaching the crag in temperatures south of ten degrees can be a pretty unpleasant experience. But as a wise man once said, ‘there’s no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing,’ and fortunately, Gramicci has loads of approach appropriate clothing, which we’ve put neatly into an approach themed outfit to make sure that your first climbing trip of the year doesn’t fall at the first hurdle.

Gramicci Down Puffer Jacket – Dark Brown
The most important part of a cold weather climbing outfit is undoubtedly your jacket, fail to recognise this and you’re in for a miserable time. This Gramicci Down Puffer is guaranteed to keep you toasty as well as hide the muddy stains you inevitably acquire when tripping over a poorly placed rock.
Gramicci Winter Thermal L/S Crew – Maroon Heather
We weren’t kidding when we said this outfit is curated for low temperatures, hence why we’ve reached for this thermal long sleeve crew. It’s a great colour, and Gramicci has assured us that its wicking properties are top notch. Good stuff.

Gramicci x and wander JQ Tape Corduroy Gadget Pant – Beige
A rock solid pair of trousers from one of the most rock solid partnerships we can think of. These Gadget Pant’s have a jacquard strap ideal for clipping stuff to with a carabiner, which all climbers are big into.
Gramicci Thermal Beanie – Black
There’s an old adage that says we lose 80% of the heat through our heads’. Yeah, that’s not true. It’s only 11%. Still, you’d rather retain that 11%, wouldn’t you? And this lovely thermal beanie will allow you to do that.
