New Balance was once a brand pigeonholed for balding fathers who enjoyed nothing more than mowing their lawns and barbecuing. Today, the perception couldn’t be any more different – it doesn’t matter if your name is Kevin or Katalia – New Balance products are enjoyed by all. The brand has always been cool, but the demographic that feels this way about the brand has certainly shifted.
The new era of New Balance has been here for a while now, with the brand having successfully pivoted to become one of the most influential names in the footwear world. This success can certainly be attributed to something of a stylistic ‘freshen up’ but at its core, New Balance has stayed true to the key values that made them such a hit with the OG shorts-year-round crowd – hardwearing, comfortable and dependable footwear.
Our love for New Balance on here has been well documented, and it’s about to become even more so, as we observe Six of the Best New Balance up for grabs right now from our friends at EQVVS.

New Balance 1906A ‘Tech Explosion’
The 1906A, in all its deconstructed glory, has become a firm favourite of ours since its release in 2021, and this ‘Tech Explosion’ rendition could be one of our favourite looks yet. That yellow-into-green gradient is screaming tequila-lime-soda, to us. Probably a bit early for that though.
New Balance certainly know their way around a blacked-out model, and with this 1906W the proof is in the pudding. Additionally, the whole upper caging is made from a reflective material, great if you’re navigating busy roads late at night, for whatever reason…

Now these are a bit mad – not a colourway you see all too often. That chunky purple sole with the lilac-y magnet upper is simply *chefs kiss* They remind us a bit of the exciting ice-cream flavours you see when you’re wandering down a nice side street somewhere in Europe.
The 2002R has quickly risen to become one of the brand’s most-rated models, and it’s easy to see why. This pair coming in the quintessential New Balance grey colourway. You quite literally cannot go wrong with these. Unless you step in a really big puddle, of course.

The 740 is an excellent example of New Balance taking their Dad Shoe DNA and bringing it up to speed with modern trend cycles. Clean, understated and relatively affordable, the capabilities of these stretch far beyond golf practice in your back garden.
