adidas SPZL is back for Spring/Summer 2025, digging deep into the archives while keeping one eye firmly on the future. Under the watchful eye of Gary Aspden, this latest drop blends heritage with innovation, serving up a slick selection of reworked footwear classics and timeless apparel. The campaign sees British actor and longtime SPZL advocate James Nelson-Joyce front and centre, via the lens of Kevin Cummins. This all brings the collection to life with the time-served terrace energy it has used as its fuel right from the start.

As ever, footwear is the start player in this lineup and SS25 brings six heavy hitters to the table, each with that familiar mesh of old vs new. Leading the line is the TRX Mesh SPZL—a slick rework of the classic TRX as famously worn by Roger Daltry in the role of McVicar and of course, Moxy in Auf Weidersehen Pet. Influencers before influencers were a thing. Keeping its iconic blue and yellow palette intact, this version updates the upper with a refined pattern, bringing something new to the table, at which it sits at the head.
The Handball Cup SPZL blends DNA from the ‘83 Handball Spezial and Handball Top, while the Failsworth SPZL revives the elusive adidas Barbados, borrowing its suede build and T-toe construction from the Universal SL. A muted colour palette and vintage ‘Made in France’ branding add an extra touch of nostalgia.
Elsewhere in this footwear offering comes the Roelee SPZL which picks up where the Whalley SPZL left off, marrying Gazelle SPZL foxing details with a tweaked upper. The extended T-toe overlay, stretching through to the heel, makes this one a proper standout. We don’t usually get quick as juiced up about shoes, using words like foxing and T-toe but for some reason it feels fitting here.
In the Pampanga SPZL comes an homage to a rare Philippine-made archive find. Reworking the adidas Squire, it pairs a vintage outsole with a refined, snugger toebox—pure retro gold.
And finally, the A Aspden SPZL comes with deep personal significance. Built on the Las Palmas silhouette, it merges classic 70s court shoe elements with a touching tribute—featuring the signature of Gary Aspden’s late father, a hand engraver, as a nod to both his craftsmanship and the era’s timeless aesthetics.

On the Apparel, the Halewood SPZL Parka serves as a strong centrepiece while the North West theme continues with the Billinge SPZL Hoodie, Brockhall SPZL Tee, and Mod SPZL Tee all keeping things classic and casual, as is SPZL’s unique formula.
For a sportier edge, the Hudswell SPZL Jacket and Shorts bring ripstop fabric into the mix, adding a bit of technical know-how to the collection. Meanwhile, the Salesbury SPZL Trousers offer a relaxed but tapered fit, featuring zip pockets for extra utility. The Wardour SPZL Vest takes the Wardour jacket and chops off the sleeves, making it a proper versatile layering piece.
Last but not least, accessories, where the ST10 SPZL Bag and Hip Bag take cues from classic ST rain jackets, while the Mod Trefoil SPZL Cap and socks add those finishing touches to complete the look.
