Six of the Best – Front Foot Footwear

We’re now well and truly into spring, both literally (it started like 2 weeks ago) and in reality. There was something on the radio this morning that said the UK google searches for suncream in the first week of April were higher than any other corresponding week in any previous year.

I should get a life really shouldn’t I? Look, I’m just saying it’s a bit warmer and nicer weather, stating the obvious really.

With that in mind, I can’t be the only one digging out that pair of trainers that are more suitable for such balmy conditions can I? And I can’t be the only one who also finds himself disappointed that they’re not in quite as nice condition as I remembered. And I can’t be the only one who then starts looking at new footwear in which to attack the warmer months.

With this in mind, I’ve decided to put a little list together of six pairs of trainers that would sate my (and your?) appetite for something nice as we head into Easter.

Mizuno Cordura Contender

Straight in with a genuine contender for the best of the bunch. Literally, it’s called the Contender. Nice colours, Cordura construction, yes this will be a nice addition for those days feeding the ducks at the park or perhaps walking around an ailing town centre reminiscing about when there were loads of chippies there. That kind of thing.

Karhu Super Fulcrum

A slight move of for Karhu, this. We know them for their colourful Fusion styles, which have become something of a staple, but these are a bit more futuristic. Not totally futuristic but enough to make you think about your five year plan.

Merrell Agility Peak 5
The resurgence of Merrell in recent years has been impressive. The trend towards the outdoors and running has no doubt helped, but without really interesting, well designed footwear they’d be nowhere. Thankfully, they are not without really interesting, well designed footwear.

adidas Originals Tobacco
Ideal for wearing while smoking a pipe and debating whether or not you like trad jazz music. Of course there are casual connotations but there’s something about that scene that feels pretty stale these days. So yeah. Pipe. Jazz. Tapping fingers.

New Balance 2002R
This list would not be complete without some smart grey New Balance shoes. So here they are.

Clarks Originals Wallabee

What a nice way to make the Wallabee look a bit different to what you’d expect, in a summery type way. Trust me, you’d get away with these, you’d cut a dash, make an impression and turn many more heads than stomachs. Live a little, give them a go.
