Back when the world was busy hoarding Y2K beans and worrying about robot uprisings, New Balance were prepping to release their 1000 model. They were forward-thinking for their time and somehow still look the same 25 years later. Boasting bulky overlays, sculpted midsoles, and eyelets that looked like they’d been pinched off a rave flyer. Now, it’s been dragged out of the archive, dusted off and given a proper going-over. They’re still bursting with those heavy Y2K vibes, but with a techwear twist that fits right in with the prevailing look you’ll see knocking about at the moment. Parachute pants and all that stuff. You know what I mean.
There are four new colourways on offer, ranging from the clean and classic Black, Silver and Jade to the more shouty White, Navy and Cream. Basically, whether your vibe is low-key operator or all-eyes-on-me, there’s a 1000 to match.
With this new rollout, New Balance is showing (again) that it’s got that rare knack for digging into its past without getting stuck in it. Y2K nostalgia with 2025 sensibilities? Go on then.
