Ten of the Best – Warm weather pants

Most people associate the warmer months with legwear of the shorter variety, but we think it’s important not to forget about the old faithfuls – pants, trousers, fatigues, cargos & pantaloons. Where shorts only turn up when they feel like it, trousers are there, rain or shine. Always dependable, whenever they’re called upon.

Baggy, relaxed, slim or wide, a good pair of pants can completely turn an outfit on its head. Countless times, we’ve found ourselves disgustingly bored with our wardrobes – on the verge of changing it all – when in reality, all we needed was a new, exciting pair of slacks to spice things up. We’re well aware that we talk about jackets a lot here, but the importance of trousers cannot be understated.

With that sentiment in mind, we’ve put together a list of ten pairs of trousers that hold the ability to refresh your entire wardrobe. Thank us later.

Purple Mountain Observatory – Terrain Pant

These Purple Mountain Observatory pants are crazy good. Kind of like something a NASA employee would wear. Big fan of the unorthodox panelling, hidden rear pockets and metal buckled belt.

Aries – Canvas Walking Trousers

A very Aries take on a pair of classic walking trousers. Not sure whether it’s the large metal zips or rubber Aries appliqué, but there’s something very 2000s Prada Sport about these. Good colour as well.

and Wander – Crinkled Nylon Pants

and Wander seems to consistently put out good legwear every single season. Always lightweight, airy, relaxed and well fitting. Everything you want from a pair of trousers, really. These ones come in a sort of crinkled nylon we reckon even Osti would be somewhat impressed by.

The North Face – Beta Utility Belted Pant

How did we survive before the invention of the inbuilt belt? That’s now three out of four pairs of pants on this list that have one. Anyway, these North Face pants have been designed for climbing rocks, but look like they’d be suitable for most activities.

Nanga – Dotair Comfy Pants

Putting the word ‘comfy‘ in the title of an item is a bold statement, but we’ll let Nanga off the hook, because it’s Nanga – and these genuinely do look mega comfy. The kind of pants you can get away with wearing for just about any kind of situation. Big colour as well.

Filson – Field Supply Pants

If (like us) your life’s goal is to dress like Harrison Ford backpacking through the Sahara Desert, you should get acquainted with Filson. Any product you buy from them is a purchase for life. It’ll probably even outlive you. These Field Supply Pants are no exception – cut from 9.5oz reverse-sateen fabric nearly identical to WWII U.S. Army Fatigues. 10/10.

Baracuta – Canvas Garment Dyed Trousers

We’ve had the pleasure of feeling these Baracuta trousers in hand, and they’re well good. Nothing you don’t need, just a simple pair of pants done incredibly well. Hefty garment dyed canvas with subtle pleats at the waist, and a nice, relaxed fit. If you’re after a no-nonsense pair of trousers that go with everything, look no further than these.

Candice – Xenica Pants

We haven’t had a really wiiiide pair of pants on this list until this point, so here you go. These Candice Pants are mega – reminiscent of Maharishi’s cult Snopant (a big compliment).

Ben Sherman – Linen Cotton Trousers

Ben Sherman has been putting out good product – so consistently, for so long – that it’s almost easy to overlook them. These linen trousers are a good example of why you shouldn’t do that, though. Nice fabric, heritage side adjusters, and a mature tapered fit.

Filson – Oakville Canvas Pants

Yeah, we can’t get enough of Filson at the moment. The brand makes us feel proud to be American, even though we’re not American. These Canvas Pants look solid, but not too solid. Comfy enough for everyday wear, but hardwearing enough to let people know you’re not here to mess around.
