New Balance releases new ABZORB 2000

New Balance is a brand that is always looking forward. Always looking to improve. Always looking to make things slightly better than they were yesterday. They’re like that kid in class who can’t help but make everyone else look bad.

In certain circumstances, though, the old mantra of ‘if it aint broke don’t fix it’ applies. And New Balance’s thirty-year-old ABZORB technology is most definitely not broken.

ABZORB, a type of cushioning engineered by New Balance back in 1993, was vastly ahead of its time, and that’s why it’s still used now. The technology has featured on loads of New Balance silhouettes, and there’s now another member on the roster…

The ABZORB 2000.

Originally previewed at Milan Design Week in April, the new ABZORB 2000 fuses a minimalist upper with a proper mad-looking midsole constructed of a combination of ABZORB cushioning and ABZORB SBS pods. The result is a heritage-influenced silhouette that looks like it could bounce as far as it could run.

New Balance has debuted the ABZORB 2000 in a big ‘Still Water‘ colourway, rendering the shoe in a blue, grey and white paintjob with the tasty addition of a gradient on the toebox. The trainer’s design process actually incorporated 3D tools to help create the hyper-detailed articulated sole unit and capture curves not easily represented on paper.

It’s a shoe that reinterprets 2000s tech in the best kind of way. They definitely aren’t for everyone, but we’ve got to admit, we’re more than a bit into them.

The New Balance ABZORB 2000 is available to purchase now from New Balance.
