Goodlids release Yosemite-inspired hemp goodness for AW25

One of our best discoveries from last year was a brand called Goodlids. Andrew (a man with a mullet and moustache) joined our team, and due to his style of grooming, naturally knew loads about brands from the part of the world where it’s sunny at Christmas. And the best of the bunch was Goodlids.

Hailing from New Zealand, Goodlids manage to perfectly blend the outdoors, dirtbag culture and the wonder fabric hemp. Think of it as late ’90s Patagonia, only with a healthy amount of added Kiwi nonchalance.

Originally known for their headwear, Goodlids have long since branched out from their namesake and are now purveyors of hemp tees, shirts, shorts and jackets. But the most recent news we’ve had from the brand – arriving in a scrambled radio message of incomprehensible Kiwi slang – has informed us of our new favourite hemp product to date – rugby shirts.

For their first drop of AW25, Goodlids have channelled their Yosemite Pinterest boards, leafed through a stack of old outdoor catalogues and produced a rugby shirt that looks straight out of Camp Four c. 1980. We’re big, big into them. The colours are great, the collar is great, and the subtle hit of Goodlids branding on the neck is also great.

Accompanying the rugby shirt is the new Scroggin Short. We’ve got no clue what the name means (informed by some far-off Kiwi slang, no doubt), but the shorts themselves are solid. Lightweight, quick drying and with a relaxed fit – but not so relaxed they turn into 3/4 lengths when you put your keys in the pockets. Each pair of shorts is composed of an innovative hemp-nylon fibre blend, meaning you get a helpful bit of stretch with all that typical hemp hardiness.

Topping off the AW25 drop are five new colourways and a restock of the brand’s highly sought-after Soft-Brim cap. Apparently, these have been flying out, so if you’ve been wanting to get your hands on one, it’s probably wise to get in there early.

As always with Goodlids, they’ve supplemented this release with a load of nice imagery taken along one of New Zealand’s many idyllic coastlines. Are we jealous? Yeah, absolutely.

And we nearly forgot to mention… Rumour has it that the brand is planning on a second trip to the UK fairly soon, but we can’t expand on the top secret matter any further than that.
