Saucony’s ProGrid Omni 9 returns from the archives

As a confirmed fan of trainers with tech-sounding names and a good portmanteau, this snake-inspired Saucony’s are relevant to my interests.

For this season, they’ve given their ProGrid Omni another once-over with the Glowa Pack, which, if you’re the sort to read into things, comes with a bit of old-world symbolism thrown in for good measure. Tapping into the Year of the Snake, this version reckons with a few thousand years of wisdom and reinvention, all packed into a silhouette that still looks like it could smash out a Sunday long run and turn a few heads at the pub after. You don’t know how hard I’ve just had to try not to use a ‘scale’ pun there btw. Then again, Saucony referring to these as Glowaconstrictor does the clever wordplay for me.

Snakes, apparently, stand for transformation, intuition and quietly getting on with it, which is more or less what you want in a decent pair of runners. The Glowa Pack riffs on this with shimmering, iridescent bits that catch the light like snake scales. Underneath, you’ve got all the usual Saucony retro-tech bits — that trusty Progrid sole and a shape that balances old-school runner vibes with just enough future-facing weirdness.

These are where heritage meets sci-fi snake skin. For those who like their trainers to say something, but not too much.

Head to Saucony to see more.
