KEEN, the Portland-based purveyors of hybrid footwear, have decided it’s high time they made a swing into the golfing world – but not in the way you might think. No spikes, no soft leather brogues, and definitely no two-tone shiny shoes. Instead, they’ve teamed up with LA’s golf-streetwear disruptors Metalwood Studio to create something far more intriguing: the ultimate pre- and post-golf shoes.
The centrepiece of the collaboration is the Hyperport Clog, a slip-on silhouette KEEN originally developed as an airy, cushioned, go-anywhere shoe.
Functionally, this iteration is KEEN through and through: an injected foam midsole for cloud-like cushioning, an ultra-grippy Aquagrip outsole that won’t have you skidding across a wet green like Bambi, and the brand’s signature protective rubber toe bumper that’s been in operation since 2003. There’s also a roomy toe box, adjustable strap, and eco-friendly odour control, which means your playing partners won’t mysteriously disappear on the back nine.
This isn’t KEEN’s first brush with golf either – their sandals have been adopted by players for years as the unofficial “après-golf” shoe. This collab just makes it official.
In short, the KEEN x Metalwood Hyperport Clog is not about helping you shave a few strokes off your game. It’s about making the walk from the 18th hole to the clubhouse a whole lot more comfortable – and a whole lot more stylish.
