Whenever the name Les Deux appears in our inbox, we’re instantly taken right back to that epic scene in True Detective where Rust Cohle (probably the coolest Hollywood detective of all time) is met face to face with the man he’s been hunting for five breath-taking episodes – Reggie Ledoux. Then we remember we’re a lifestyle clothing magazine, and realise it’s definitely pertaining to the Copenhagen-based prep brand. Not a TV show that aired 11 years ago.
Anyway, our mates at Les Deux have clearly been watching Downton Abbey instead of True Detective, because their AW25 collection, The Manor, is equal parts country estate and college campus. Shot somewhere with more chimneys than WiFi networks.
Their strategy for AW25 is nothing short of commendable – take English heritage pieces – jackets, boots, knits that smell faintly of woodsmoke – and tip them into a blender with a Boston accent, alongside some sporty classics. The result is outfits that look just as at home half-tucked in a pub snug as they do pacing across a quad. Ties in half Windsor sit beneath crisp jackets that wouldn’t flinch at a downpour, while varsity numbers and jacquard knits are wheeled out with aplomb.
Another factor that makes this season tick is texture. Les Deux have gone deep on the stuff, layering rugged denim against delicate anglaise, waffle knits against jersey, and anchoring it all with sharp poplin. It’s a tactile approach that makes you want to touch everything, which could be awkward in the shop but great once you’ve actually got it on.
Colour-wise, they’ve dipped into an October woodland palette: browns, khakis, evergreens, and a flash of golden orange, like the last leaf clinging to an autumnal branch. All the gear is unisex too, which means your other half can borrow half the wardrobe, and probably look better than you in it.
The AW25 The Manor campaign is Les Deux doing what they do best: making clothes that feel equal parts polished and easy. Friday office, Saturday pint, Sunday stroll – whatever.
