Proper Picks – October 2025

At long last, we’ve arrived at the best month of the year. We’ll take October and all of its crisp mornings over any month with sweltering weather warranting a strictly shorts and t-shirt dress code. This time of year is when everything begins to seriously shift – the colour of leaves, temperatures, and the prospect of achieving anything past 16:00.

October is undoubtedly the cosiest month of the year, and for this reason, we’ve tried to make our Proper Picks selection as wholesome as possible. Plenty of knitwear, nice colours and comfy jackets. Oh, and we’ve chucked in some Halloween costume inspiration too.

Withernot Ulysses Rugby Shirt

We posted about our love for rugby shirts on Instagram the other day, and as it turns out, quite a lot of you feel the same way. If you need a fresh one, Withernot are definitely the blokes to go to. Specialists in heritage-inspired, 100% cotton goodness.

Presta94 Original Slogan Tee

Influenced by that classic Yosemite Mountaineering ‘Go climb a rock‘ design, this tee proves Presta94 are more than an Instagram page that shares cool cycling images.

Big Rock Candy Mountaineering Bridalveil Jacket

Quite possibly the best overshirt we’ve ever seen. Look at those pockets. Then look at the other set of pockets. Phenomenal.

Teva ReEmber Terrain

If you frequently take the bins out in a place with a subarctic climate, these Teva slippers are a must have.

TDR Type 1 Denim Blanket Lined Jacket

For FW25, TDR have improved their Type 1 Denim Jacket by shoving in a ridiculously cosy blanket lining. Doesn’t get much more autumnal than this.

Goldwin WINDSTOPPER by GORE-TEX LABS Puffy Jacket

Packable hoods were massive in the ’90s & early ’00s, but it seems they’ve since fallen out of fashion. Can’t fathom why, but it’s good to see Goldwin doing their bit to bring them back.

Danner Field Low GTX Shoes

Just imagine the thrill you’d get booting damp autumnal leaves with these on. Serious, serious stompers.

Creek x Cody Hudson T-Shirt

Getting your hands on Creek gear is nearly impossible, but there’s a handful of these lovely tees available to purchase now from Blue in Green SoHo.

Tintin Face Mask

After an incredibly low effort, last-minute Halloween costume? Just wear this with your finest menswear ensemble to honour the most stylish animated character in history.

Fera Double Haul Knit

Not strictly available just yet, but this Fera knit is far too good to leave off the list.

Nanamica GORE-TEX Down Coat

Nanamica down products are a thing of pure beauty. This coat has everything you need, nothing you don’t and will probably outlive you too.

BEAMS Plus 8oz Work Shirt

In a world where everything seems to be shifting to the Metric system, selvedge denim has held strong. Not bent. Not been manipulated. It remains measured in old imperial ounces – some resilience is that.

Diemme Roccia Vet Mogano

Will never, ever, get bored of seeing dark brown leather boots with bright red laces. Never. Ever.

Moreporks Fisherman Knit Sweater

My Dad used to have a knit in this exact shade of yellow, and the only thing I remember about it was that it stank of our local pub. A beautiful herbal concoction of London Pride, Embassy Gold, and chips.

Nanga Satin Easy Pants

These fantastic satin pants prove that Nanga have come a long way from stitching futons back in 1941.

YETI Cayo 35L All-Weather Backpack

This YETI Backpack looks as if it could have a straightener with a tornado and still come out unscathed.

Peak Performance Helium Diamond Fuse Down Hooded Jacket

The Diamond Fuse Jacket is a big addition to Peak Performance’s already impressive roster of Helium down products.

HOKA Speedgoat 2 UNNA

If Terminator was into trail running, he’d wear these.

Khakis Brushed Plaid Shirt

Fact of the day – the word ‘plaid’ came from the Scottish Gaelic word ‘plaide’, which translates to ‘blanket.’

Forèt Match Rugby Sweatshirt

If the first egg-chasing sweatshirt on this list was too bright for you, perhaps this lovely brown Forèt one is more suitable.

and Wander Rain Proof Down Jacket

This jacket is giving us big Dead Man’s Shoes vibes. Only if the film were set in Hokkaido instead of Derbyshire.

Fera Waffle Long Sleeve

Lovely Fera long sleeve made from the most underrated fabric of all time – waffle knit.

SATISFY TheROCKER

There are many reasons why TheROCKER is such an iconic piece of footwear, and you can read all about them here.

Nanga Mountain Lodge Down Suit

If you didn’t fancy dressing up as Tintin for Halloween, why not go as an avant-garde bin bag using this Nanga Down Suit?

Dickies 247 Loose Work Trousers

Dickies latest 247 model is designed to be worn 24/7. Every hour of each day. Morning, afternoon, evening and night. You’re never allowed to take them off ever. Even if you get ketchup on them.

Mammut + Cabourn Direttissima IN Hooded Jacket

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again – Mammut + Cabourn might just be the best collab of the year. Just look at this jacket. Magnifico.

56 Yarns MA-1 Rainbowy Happy Heel Socks

Lovely knitted socks with a little face on the heel.

Elmer Cover Down Mittens

Look like a Fargo extra with these super cosy Elmer down mittens. Oh, ya!

Kuta Distance Trail Shorts 002

Running in autumn and winter is pretty brutal stuff. Make it slightly less brutal stuff by wearing shorts with a liner, like these nice Kuta Trail Shorts.

YETI Tundra Haul Wheeled Cool Box

If you’re the same size as 82 cans of beer (or 29kg of ice), you could officially fit (and potentially live) inside this YETI box. Congratulations!

Lyle & Scott Waterproof Mac Raincoat

Hefty waterproof mac by Lyle & Scott. Could also probably double up as part of a Matrix Halloween costume if it came down to it.

Goldwin WF Light Longsleeve T-Shirt

More waffle knit goodness, this time courtesy of Goldwin.

Rice Nine Ten Hand Knitted Soda Can

The Y2K equivalent of those weird knitted dolls your nan used to have.

Khakis Original Full Zip Hoodie

Easily the best grey hoodie you’ll ever own.

Khakis HBT Baker Pant

Not sure what makes these classify as Baker Pants? Perhaps it’s the big fatigue pockets? Suppose you could fit a load of cinnamon swirls in them, if you really wanted to.

Bob Mortimer Celebrity Mask

Final Halloween costume suggestion.

Belstaff Polished Leather Butler Boot

Something very James Bond-running-through-snow-with-a-massive rifle about these Belstaff boots.
