Certain brands suit certain seasons. And Fera, our favourite British heritage-inspired outdoor outfitters, most certainly suit Autumn. It’s probably something to do with how the founders spend their days traversing between muddy fields and country pubs, but Fera’s gear makes the most sense when the leaves are orange and a faint whiff of bonfire hangs in the air.
This autumnal alignment is something the brand seems to be acutely aware of – all of their AW releases are absolutely stellar, and the most recent AW25 release is no different.
For the third drop of this Autumn-Winter season, Fera presents a small curated drop, packed with heavy hitters designed for marching through brambles, perching up in pubs, and everything in between.
Front and centre of the release is the Ratting Jacket – Fera’s modern homage to the old outdoor wool jackets that hung in your Grandad’s garage. A proper bit of old school insulation with a button-up storm collar, buttoned interior pockets, and a sturdy wool blend shell that looks even better once it’s picked up a dog hair patina.
To layer beneath the Ratting Jacket is the Double Haul Knit. Taking their familiar Peewit Knit as a starting point, Fera have channelled vintage Ralph Lauren graphic knits to produce a jumper with a richly textured design showing an angler mid-haul. It’s no joke, one of the best knitwear items we’ve seen this decade, and what’s more, it has been made from a ridiculously comfortable extra fine merino wool. Available in Navy or Ecru, this knit is one of those garments that you can’t help making a part of your personality.
Rounding out the upper layers, Fera’s singanture Quilted Gilet returns for another appearance – this time in a very autumnal Rust tone. Besides the seasonal paintjob the Quilted Gilet has also undergone upgraded fabrication, and now comes with silicone-branded snap buttons.
And to finish things off, Fera couldn’t resist throwing in a smattering of corduroy, this time appearing on the Uniform Trouser – a dependable, practical, and highly wearable pair of slacks. The sort of hardwearing legwear that’ll effortlessly see you through autumn, and right into the grim depths of winter.
All in all, AW25 Drop Three is peak Fera. Heritage fabrics. Classic silhouettes. And a knit with a massive fish on the front of it. It rarely gets much better than this.
