One brand we refuse to ever stop getting excited about is The North Face Purple Label. Helmed by Nanamica, it consistently hits the mark: silhouettes are perfectly baggy without ever feeling sloppy, and, construction is bulletproof, and the colours are absolutely bang on. The fact that it’s only available in Japan only adds to its allure. We love The North Face Purple Label – rarely getting to see it in person only makes it more desirable.
This exclusivity does make collaborations hurt all the more, though, knowing they’ll never reach our grey shores. And that’s exactly how we feel about the new Palace x The North Face Purple Label collaboration.
Dropping this winter, the capsule marks the second Japan-exclusive collaboration between the two brands. The concept, titled “The City with Purple Wind,” picks up where their 2021 capsule left off, reinterpreting archival TNF and Purple Label pieces through Palace’s irreverent lens.
Across the collection, technical fabrics take center stage. High-density recycled nylon twill gives a subtle two-tone effect thanks to natural variations in sheen and firmness, while WINDSTOPPER® liners block wind and reduce internal moisture. Each piece is engineered for city winters: breathable yet protective, oversized yet structured, and accented with signature purple touches. Dual branding – TNF Purple Label and Palace’s Tri-Ferg – nods to the collaborative spirit.

All of the collection is top draw, but there are a few standout bits for us. Firstly, the Field Down Jacket, an oversized down jacket in high-density recycled nylon twill. KODENSHI® down traps and reflects body heat for warmth, while a WINDSTOPPER® liner keeps the chill at bay. Extras like a stowable hood, ribbed inner collar and cuffs, and the dual branding on the chest complete the coat.
Then there’s the Mountain Wind Parka & Pants. A duo that shares the two-tone, high-density recycled nylon aesthetic. The parka is oversized, PFC-free water-repellent, and effortlessly wearable, while the pants feature a webbing belt, gusseted inseams, and adjustable hems. They’re roomy, tapered, and built for movement – urban exploration meets streetwear precision.
And the best bit of all might just be the collection’s Field Cap. High-density recycled nylon twill, WINDSTOPPER® liner, and a set of ridiculously cosy Polartec fleece-lined ear pads.
It’s a collection that perfectly straddles the line between functional winter wear and streetwear spectacle. The only unfortunate part? You’ll have to fly to Japan to get it.
