January is tough, and making it through all 31 days (each more wet, horrible and bleak than the last) can be a real struggle. The internet will prescribe things like healthy eating, buying a UV lamp, and watching lots of comfort television – but we’ve just stumbled across something far, far more potent – Nanamica’s SS26 lookbook.
While most of us are scraping ice off our car windscreens and crying in the shower before work, Nanamica have been grafting away with visions of sunny shorelines. And you know what? It’s got us feeling very excited for the warm weather that is waiting on the distant horizon. Still far away at the moment, but this lookbook serves as a reminder that it’s getting slowly closer.
Nanamica have built SS26 around three very relatable scenarios: days off, days in the office, and everything that happens in between. For the former, the brand has channelled breezy seaside comfort. There’s a striped marine sweater made from recycled yarn that dries quickly, plus the return of the Palaka shirt, which continues to quietly be one of the brand’s best ideas.
Knit polos are also back, and famed Nanaloha shirts return, this time with floral artwork by Will Sweeney. To be honest, the whole thing is stuffed with the very beach Americana style we continue to be obsessed by – and Nanamica continue to nail season after season.
As for the city-bound but ocean-minded, there’s a selection of extremely wearable technical garb. GORE-TEX (pretty much a mainstay in every Nanamica collection) comes in the form of new ALPHADRY® jackets, accompanied by fast-drying trousers and a selection of lovely women’s pieces.
Colours stay typically washed-out and coastal – faded blues, navy, off-white, sandy beige, light khaki – with light grey stepping in as a new staple. And styling – as always with Nanamica – is on point.
Overall, this SS26 is a reminder that dressing well doesn’t have to be complex, and that even in the bleakest depths of winter, spring is out there somewhere. Probably. Hopefully.
