Mizuno takes to London’s streets for first drop of 2026

Almost every footwear brand on the planet claims to be doing things differently from the rest. But in reality, very few are. Rehashed colourways of a generic-looking low-top sneaker are rarely cutting the mustard anymore. To stand out from the crowd, you’ve got to be truly different, and that’s why we’ve always had a soft spot for Mizuno.

The brand genuinely thinks outside the box – how many shoes can you name that have a permeated midsole?

Anyway, that same mindset carries straight into Mizuno Sportstyle’s first drop of 2026. The iconic Wave Prophecy LS (the permeated midsole model) returns in two new colourways, introduced via the brand’s ‘Street Racers’ editorial, shot on the streets of London by Aleix Barau.

London’s concrete, grime and constant movement look to give the Wave Prophecy LS a new edge. The editorial leans into its surroundings, swapping muted backdrops for concrete, road and rubber – a natural fit for a silhouette that’s always felt a bit ahead of its time.

Both colourways keep things classic but confident. Sun-Dried Tomato/Barbados Cherry/Black (how delicious does that sound?) brings heat with deep red tones and sharp contrast, while Salute/Navy Blazer/Black offers a darker, more understated option. Underneath it all sits the Infinity Wave midsole – still futuristic, still divisive, and still unlike anything else out there – paired with a breathable mesh upper and glossy exoskeletal detailing.

Originally based on Yoshitaka Takahashi’s Wave Prophecy 8 runner, the Wave Prophecy LS continues to blur the line between performance and streetwear. It’s bold, technical and incredibly different from anything else on the market.

The Mizuno Wave Prophecy LS ‘Sun-Dried Tomato/Barbados Cherry/Black’ and ‘Salute/Navy Blazer/Black’ are set to release on January 16 directly from Mizuno
